Perhaps "Martha" is a figment of Susan's often questionable imagination... perhaps the name she gives to her musings over film viewing, just as Special Agent Dale Cooper has his "Diane". Who is this "Martha" --who?? Do they really "work" together, hmmmm? Or just goof off and talk about movies?
Alas, I am Martha. I exist. Even outside of our Wednesday nights at the reference desk, goofing off and talking about movies --trying desperately to get the building moniter, Darren, to kick us out of library because of bad behavior. Never works, confound it!
OK, so, movies...or more pretentiously put, films...what have I seen lately? Ah! That's right! Eastern Promises with our boy Viggo. Good stuff. Shot in drabby, grey tones --even Naomi Watts' complexion looks wonderfully flawed. A great fight scene in the sauna bath. Viggo is fantastic! I mean, just look at all those tatoos! Highly recommend. I just watched Marathon Man recently, as well. I remember watching it years ago, but hardly anything else. Vague memories of Dustin Hoffman running in Central Park..and, of course, a bit of dentistry. What I had forgotten (or not appreciated at the time) was the performance of Laurence Olivier. Wow. Such a gentle torturer. Also happened to just watch Brothers, a Danish film that I've been meaning to see (it came out in 2005, I think). Although it held strong reviews and won a nod from Sundance, I couldn't help being a little disappointed. All and all quite good, though. I was just expecting magic, I guess.

I can affirm that Martha is real, not a figment of my imagination...it's Halloween night and I am here in the very quiet (for a change) library and know we are talking about films and the blog and she brings up Twin Peaks...it's just like her to bring a David Lynch vibe to the library, and that's right after talking about some scary creepy children's scary novel...trick or treat!
Speaking of treats and Twin Peaks http://www.tvrage.com/Twin_Peaks , the Definitive Gold Box Edition was just released yesterday, so was another ABC the complete series of the teen angsty but wonderful My So Called Life ...
